A little history

My name is Mike Hemberger, also known as Jive The Universal or JiveDig. I was born and bred in NJ and have spent over a decade in various roles throughout the music scene. I began my music career as a teenager playing guitar, bass, singing and playing in several bands, all the while pushing myself as a solo hip-hop artist. I went to a local college and earned a degree in Music Theory and Music Technology. Right out of school I purchased Pro Tools, a Mac and a bunch of studio gear.  I haven\’t looked back since.

A Vision

I want to see your vision.  I can help you HEAR your vision. When we work together, I have an open ear to what you want for your project. If you are unsure, I can always offer suggestions based on my ear for music and my years of experience.

Transparency

I have nothing to hide when it comes to working with me in The Stiz. I am very easy to work with and I take a \”stay out of your way\” approach to recording. Let me know your vision and we can make it happen. Before a session begins you are free to tell me everything you are trying to accomplish in that session. I am able to set the pace to the best of my ability in hopes of getting everything done in the allotted time. If perfection is what you are after, we take our time and make sure everything is exactly right from performance to the final mix. If you are trying to bang out tracks, I adjust my workflow to help us work fast.

Going Deeper

Making songs is more than just writing words to music. It\’s a relationship. A relationship with your own emotions, a relationship with your listener, and when recording music it\’s a relationship with your engineer/producer.

I have no shame in sharing my relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship taught me maturity, honesty and integrity. I am able to look at my career and my business with clarity, and in turn provide you, the artist, with a sense of trust and legitimacy to the art we create.
